Andreas Hofer, rich alpine soils and mountain forests South Tyrol pearls
and numerous excursions
St. Leonhard is the home of the Tyrolean freedom fighter Andreas Hofer.
The former innkeeper of the inn “Am Sand” organised the dispatch of freight over
the Jaufenpass to the north. A museum offers a reminder of probably the most
famous resident of the Passeiertal. Another contemporary witness of centuries
past, the Jaufenburg over St. Leonhard, is found close to the Hotel
Jägerhof. Excursion destinations include the nearby spa town of Meran, the
state capital of Bozen, Sterzing and the former Episcopal city of Brixen. Those
who want to explore further afield can talk to the Augscheller family to obtain
valuable tips for Venice, the Gardasee (Lake Garda), Innsbruck and nearby
Switzerland. A holiday experience without limits.
