Radio, TV, print and online media like to talk about this hotel and its extensive history. It is an ancient commercial relay point from times when the Fugger transported their goods across the Reschenpass from Venice to Augsburg. In the seventies of the past century, the Rössl was a hideaway for smugglers. Eventful history in the parental home of current owner Bernhard Tschenett. He revived the commercial relay point which had been left to deteriorate and restored it with great attention to detail. For his efforts he received a commendation from the State of South Tyrol.
Located in the picturesque village of Lichtenberg, the relay hotel reopened in the fall of 2006. A small, tidy establishment with time-honoured walls from the 15th century, it has just 7 guest rooms and tastefully decorated, generous designer suites. A modern, contemporary hotel with an architecture between the centuries.
Allow the magic of this historical relay point to inspire you and enjoy it with all your senses…on the trail of the past, just below the most extensive castle ruins in South Tyrol: Lustschloss Lichtenberg (Lichtenberg Castle), the summer residence of the counts of Tyrol who had their ancestral seat in Schloss Dorf Tirol (Tyrol Village Castle) near Meran.
